New Delhi: It has been a disappointing campaign so far for India at the Rio Olympics.
The duck in the medal tally is yet to be broken and some of India's brightest hopes have exited the mega event.
Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar had earlier requested PM Narendra Modi to speak about the Indian athletes during his upcoming Independence Day address.
Mr. Modi however did so immediately, taking to social micro-blogging site Twitter to praise the Indian contingent and encourage athletes who were still to begin their campaign in Rio.
Taking a cue from the PM, India's Test skipper Virat Kohli to heaped praise on India's Olympians in his post-match press conference.
Hats off to Indian athletes who are in Rio. Must give credit to them. There is a disparity in facilities but they are still competing: Kohli
