Vijender Singh set to make pro boxing debut on Indian soil in July

New Delhi: As an amateur, star Indian boxer Vijender Singh fought many bouts in his native country. But now it's time for the Bhiwani-born pugilist, who turned Pro last year, to fight his maiden professional bout on home soil in July this year.

That's not all, Vijender's promoters are also planning to do "something huge" in India in September-October.

Talking to reporters, his UK-based promoter Francis Warren promised a show like none before during Vijender's India appearances.

"We have big plans for him this year, we're hoping to do a big show in Delhi around July. Plans are underway, we have something huge around September/October. It's going to be something that's never been done before," Warren said in a press conference without revealing what exactly are their plans.

Vijender has been on a rampage ever since making his debut in the pro circuit last year in Manchester, winning all his three bouts via Knockout so far.

Warren even praised the boxer for taking such a huge step of turning pro.

“Vijender is the flag-bearer for Indian boxing, he's taken a huge step to putting his country on the boxing map by coming over here," said Warren.

The 30-year-old will be fighting his next bout in Liverpool on February 13 against a yet to be named opponent.
