New Delhi: United States of America (USA) sprinter Justin Gatlin has broken world fastest man Usain Bolt's 100m world record, but the American's fan-assisted effort won't count as official.

Gatlin raced the distance in just 9.45 seconds, well past Bolt's 9.58, which he set in 2009.

But the sprinter was assisted by huge wind turbines that pushed him. He was also assisted along the way by smaller fans placed at the side of his lane.

It was part of a stunt for Japanese game show , in which the 34-year-old, who is considered Jamaican Bolt's main rivals for glory at this summer's Olympics in Rio, agreed to take part.
