New Delhi: PV Sindhu was on Monday conferred with the coveted Khel Ratna award by the President of India.

From India's perspective, the 21-year-old stole the show at recently concluded Games with a historic silver medal.

Ever since her arrival in India, Sindhu has been answering a spate of interviews and ferrying across from one event to another.

Speaking to Shekhar Gupta on his ‘Off The Cuff’ program, Sindhu revealed why she was fiercely determined to not win a bronze in Rio.

“I was telling myself that this time ‘I’m not going to get bronze. I already have back-to-back bronze medals,” she said.

Coach Pullela Gopichand too shed light on his ward's new avatar at the Games.

“I kept telling her, ‘I want your fist up, punch in the air, finish the rally, see through the rally; finish the match, see through to the end," he said about Sindhu's aggressive body language during the campaign.

Gopi also informed the gathering how the duo left nothing to chance in an attempt to bring home the gold.

“For two-and-a-half months we practised the backhand crosscourt net shot. In the end, she used it twice, but won two crucial points. It just worked,” he added.
