OUCH! Amir Khan taunts Vijender Singh; says he can destroy Indian's boxing career

New Delhi: Vijender Singh has made an excellent start to his pro-boxing career.

After seven successive wins, the Indian boxer has now set his sights on some of the big boys of world boxing.

Having beaten Australia's Kerry Hope to take the WBO Asia Pacific title, there is now talk of the Vijender camp looking to lock horns with British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan.

Talking to the Times of India, Khan had some interesting things to say about Vijender.

"I like Vijender, he is a great talent but sometimes you can't bite more than you can chew. It is too early in his career to try and challenge established boxers like me. If he fights with me at this time, it will destroy his professional career. This is not to disrespect him but he has to be smart while choosing opponents. There is a big difference between his and my level," he told the TOI.

The 29-year-old went on to add that Vijender lacked experience at the top level.

"He has a great future ahead of him. He is skillful and wants to be the best but he has to gain of a lot of experience. He played a great match but at the moment he lacks experience. He wants to be at the level where I am. For that he needs to stay focused and keep winning. I became WBA light-welterweight champions at the age of 22, now I am 29," he added.

In May, Khan was knocked out by Saul Canelo Alvarez in a middleweight contest.

Amir and Vijender are likely to meet next month when the former visits India.
