National archery championships to be held in Vizag from Sep 22

Visakhapatnam: The Cherukuri Amin national archery championship (recurve and compound) will be held here from September 22.

The five-day event will be held jointly by the Andhra Pradesh Archery Association and Department of Physical Education of Andhra University under the auspices of the Archery Association of India, organising secretary and chairman of Vijaywada-based Cherukuri Volga Archery Academy, Cherukuri Satyanarayana said today.

The competitions will be held in segments of senior Recurve and Compound for men and women and junior Recurve and Compoud for boys and girls, he said.

The late Cherukuri Lenin in whose name the tournament will be held had won many medals in national and international events including the Asian archery competitions and was national archery coach under Limba Ram, his father Satyanarayana said.

Lenin died in road accident in 2010.
