Hong Kong's Hu Yun equates IBL with World Championships

Bangalore: Banga Beats shuttler Hu Yun has equated the inaugural Indian Badminton League (IBL) with the prestigious World Championships in terms of the competition level.

"I think there is very good competition here. It is a lot like the World Championship because a same set of players feature in these tournaments," Yun said here on Thursday.

Yun, who lost in the third round of the World Championships, said he was impressed and would participate in the next edition of the IBL as well.

The Hong Kong player said he has made many friends and they discuss badminton regularly.

The Beats were contemplating to replace Yun due to his unavailability in later stages of the league as he was scheduled to take part in Chinese National Games to be held in Liaoning from August 31 to September 12.

However, Yun was permitted to play in IBL.

"My government is open-minded, so I had no issues," he said.
