India’s Thakur Anoop Singh crowned champion in World Bodybuilding Championship

Anoop was a former pilot who was forced to ground himself after the 2008 global recession. 

New Delhi: India's Thakur Anoop Singh added a new feather to the nation's sporting history by bagging the gold medal in the recently held World Bodybuilding Championship in Bangkok.

According to a report in the Times of India, Anoop was a former pilot who was forced to ground himself after the 2008 global recession.

Anoop defied all odds to showcase dedication and discipline after going through a difficult journey. Anoop's physique not just matched but bettered the field of international counterparts in the competition. Anoop finished first among 70 athletes from as many as 43 different countries taking part in the event.

Anoop stated on social micro-blogging site Twitter, that he took his competition day as a celebration, as it inculcated and changed his body language and mindset.

In the competitive world of bodybuilding, Anoop has touched many highs as he finished third at the Mr Asia event recently. Interestingly Anoop had promised to win the medal before even leaving for Thailand.
