New Delhi: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Tuesday shocked the world by defeating heavily favoured Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the closely contested race for the White House. With the unprecedented triumph, Trump ended eight years of Democratic rule and sent the United States on a new, uncertain path.
Brushing aside fears that his victory will further divide the US, President-elect Donald Trump said in his victory speech that he will be the leader "for all Americans".
Worried a Trump victory could cause economic and global uncertainty, investors were in full flight from risky assets such as stocks, and the U.S. dollar sank.
