According to a Mail Today report, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) on Monday provisionally suspended Boxing India, communicating its decision via mail to Kishen Narsi, chairman of the world body-appointed ad hoc committee in India.

New Delhi: According to a Mail Today report, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) on Monday provisionally suspended Boxing India, communicating its decision via mail to Kishen Narsi, chairman of the world body-appointed ad hoc committee in India.

"Can you please confirm if Mr. Meren Paul (BI's interim president) and other individuals involved in boxing have been advised of the AIBA's instructions regarding organisation of elections? In addition have they been advised that any competition held by them is unsanctioned due to the current status of Boxing India as provisionally suspended?" wrote AIBA legal director Cliodhna Guy, observer during the BI's September election, wrote in his mail.

Narsi communicated AIBA's decision to members of Indian boxing fraternity on Monday evening.

"This is to inform all the stakeholders of Indian boxing fraternity that AIBA has provisionally suspended Boxing India and it has instructed the ad hoc committee to handle issues related to calling a meeting of all stakeholders, and taking steps ahead, including holding fresh elections, to streamline stalled Indian boxing operations asap.

In this regard, please be informed that AIBA ad hoc committee plans to meet in next two weeks or so and will intimate the Indian boxing family of the way forward on the lines suggested and recommended by AIBA for further handling of governing body operations," Narsi wrote in his mail

Interestingly, AIBA had announced the date for its AGM on October 3, only a couple of days prior to its decision of provisionally suspending BI.

Howeverm, AIBA now now cleared the confusion with regards to the status of Boxing India as its mail says that BI can't conduct election and organize events
