Sydney: Adam Scott finished the British Open with four consecutive bogeys, which could be considered one of the most ignominious collapses in major championship history, to hand over victory to Ernie Els.
“You can compare it, sure,” said Scott of the overtones his performance had with that of his friend, and boyhood idol, Greg Norman who gave up a six-shot lead in the final round of the 1996 US Masters.

Despite relinquishing a four shot lead in four holes, Scott said he was already eager to get back on the course to exploit the form that had gotten him into a position from which he could - and should - have claimed his first major title.
“My golf game is fantastic shape,” he said, despite the errors that had contributed to the seven bogeys he shot in his final round 75.
“I`ve probably never been more confident. Maybe that`s something to learn from today, even when you`re playing that good you`ve got to make sure the percentages are in your favour when you are coming down the stretch like that,” he said.
