New Delhi: English giants Manchester United advanced to the knock-out phase of the 2016-17 UEFA Europa League after defeating Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk 2-0 in Luhansk early Friday morning.
It was Jose Mourinho's first win in 10 away games. A defeat and a a Feyenoord win would have spelled disaster for the Red Devils.
But Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored his first United goal to set up the win in Ukraine. Fenerbahce topped the group with 13 points, which is one more than United's tally.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the second goal, towards the end for his seventh goal in his last six matches.
However it was curtains for another Premier League outfit, Southampton.
The Saints were held to a 1-1 draw by Hapoel Be'er Sheva at St. Mary's Stadium.
In their Group K encounter, the home side failed to make the most of the chances that came their way and ended third place, behind Sparta Prague and Hapoel.
Interestingly, Italian giants Inter finished last in the group.
