New Delhi: English champions Manchester City will look to score their 1000th Premier League goal when they play Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday. James Milner scored their 998th goal in the last league outing, against Leicester on March 5.

In a disappointing season for the Citizens, reaching 1000th goal milestone may not justify their huge expectations, but it will at least help them gain entry into an exclusive club. Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa have already hit the magic mark.

Leading the scoring chart is Sergio Aguero, on 69. And the Argentine, given his form, is expected to score the 1000th goal today itself. He has already scored 17 goals in this season despite struggling with fitness.

Manuel Pellegrini and his squad are on verge of ending the season without a title. After conceding a ten-point lead to leaders with an extra game, their chance of defending the league title is all but over. They have also been knocked out of both the domestic competitions – FA Cup and League Cup. Besides, their continental dreams have also hit hard by a 2-1 defeat to visiting Barcelona.
