New Delhi: Bafetimbi Gomis, who has emerged as a shock target for Manchester United, on Sunday equalled a 92-year-old club record for Swansea by scoring in his first four league games of a season in England.

The Frenchman hitman achieved the feat by scoring the winning goal (2-1) against the visiting United team at the Liberty Stadium in the 66th minute of the game with a composed, high-precision low strike off a swerving Ghanaian Andre Ayew delivery.

The former Lyon player, who arrived in Wales last year on a free transfer, started the 2014-15 Premier League campaign on a rollicking fashion, scoring against the defending champions Chelsea in their season opener from the spot in a 2-2 draw in London. He followed it up with a goal in their 2-0 win over Newcastle United at home. Before today's match, he scored in a 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Stadium of Light.

He thus became the second Swansea player to have scored in the first four games of a league since 1923-24, and the first in the Premier League era.

Thanks to his winner, Garry Monk's side has beaten the most successful English team for the third successive time, winning 2-1 every time.

Interestingly, the 30-year-old striker has been became United manager Louis van Gaal's main target and the Dutch has reportedly sent his chief scout Jim Lawlor in pursuit of the break-out star.

Gomis has a GBP 7million release clause.
