ISL: Delhi Dynamos eyes top position in the table

They might have already booked a spot at the semifinals but Delhi Dynamos defender John Arne Risse ruled out any scope of complacency, saying they will look to win the next two games against Kerala Blasters and Goa to reach the top of the ISL table.

"We are not thinking of semi-finals as yet. First we want to be number one on the table, and winning these two games will do that for us. We want to keep the momentum going with the aim to win the trophy," he said at an event organised by Red FM Studios.

With two games still remaining, Delhi Dynamos has already sealed a semi-finalist berth in the Indian Soccer League (ISL).

Asked if the team is mulling to rest few of the marquee players, the 35-year old Risse said, "I want to play. I missed the last match because of illness. But I am absolutely fit now. I don't know what Carlos is thinknig. In the end he's the one who will take a call on that."

Delhi has scored just 13 goals in this season, the joint lowest, but Risse doesn't see it as a worrying factor.

"Scoring goals are important, but what is equally important is defence. Apart from the match we played against Chennai, I guess we have the strongest defence in the ISL.

Yes, we didn't score many goals. But making to semi-finals with two games to spare tells that we have done something right for sure," said the footballer.

The erstwhile Liverpool player was all praises for Indian footballer Robin Singh who plays forward for Delhi Dynamos and said that he is the one on whom they always bank on for scoring goals.

"We keep putting pressure on him. He is a strong fellow and works really hard for the team," he added.

To which the 25-year-old Robin said, "This very pressure acts as a motivation for me. I always had someone backing me up. I wish it remains the same."
