Playing spin makes India firm favourites for ICC World T20: Zaheer Khan

New Delhi: Former Indian speedster Zaheer Khan on Monday indicated that Men in Blue are firm favourites to win ICC's premier event World T20, scheduled to take place in India this year.

During a promotional event on Monday, Zaheer said that the Indian cricket team's proficiency in playing spin will make the side a firm favourite on home turf.

"I am sure India will come out with flying colours. Though the format is T20, it is to be played in the sub-continent. Spin can be a part of it and the ability to play spin well can be an advantage," said Zaheer, who retired from all forms of cricket last year, albeit IPL.

The 37-year-old, who played 92 Tests and 200 ODIs for India, feels that the impact of slam-bang cricket can be seen in ODIs as well as in Test matches.

"There have been lot of changes which add excitement to the game. There have been a lot of innovations from the batters. On the whole the game has become dynamic. The impact of T20 can be seen in ODIs as well as in Test matches," added Zaheer.

The World T20 will be played between March-April, with Eden Gardens scheduled to host the final of the mega event.
