When Josh Hazlewood beat Shoaib Akhtar to become world's fastest bowler with 164 kmph delivery!

New Delhi: Australia's rising speedster Josh Hazlewood on Tuesday created a lot of buzz around the cricket fraternity when he clocked 164 kmph against West Indies – which momentarily made him the world's fastest bowler.

On the final day of the 2nd Test, in his second over of the day, Hazlewood's delivery to Windies opener Rajendra Chandrika took everybody by surprise, as it was recorded as the fastest ball in the history of the sport as the official broadcaster Channel 9’s speedometer clocked 164.2 kmph (102 mph).

It even surpassed Shoaib Akhtar’s record of 161.3 kmph by a fair margin.

The fans were surprised with the result and Cricket Australia went a step further and speculated a technical glitch in the speedometer.

Later, the broadcasters Wide World Of Sports clarified that the speed was a result of a technical glitch with the speedometer technology.
