New Delhi: West Indies have recalled premier bowler Sunil Narine for the upcoming T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Outcasts Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo also made it to the T20 squad but were ignored for the ODI format.

Sunil Narine has been fighting for form since changing his action, and this will serve the off-spinner a much-needed boost. Narine did not play the ICC 2015 World Cup earlier after questions were raised about his bowling action during the Champions League T20 in India last year. With spin friendly tracks in Sri Lanka, Narine will hope to make a big impact.

Meanwhile, Pollard's and Bravo's omission from the ODI set-up continues to highlight the issues of the WICB in their fight with the duo over player contracts.

Senior batsman Chris Gayle who underwent a back surgery, wasn't available for selection.

Jason Holder will captain the ODI squad while the T20 squad will be led by all-rounder Darren Sammy. Interestingly, the senior player wasn't considered for the ODIs and his experience will be missed like that of Pollard and Bravo.

Keeping the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup in mind, West Indies have made sure the trio of Pollard, Bravo and Sammy get a chance to enhance their performances.

Opener Dwayne Smith and Lendl Simmons alongside several players like Sheldon Cottrell, Nikita Miller, Kemar Roach and spinner Suleiman Benn wasn't considered for both ODIs and T20s.

West Indies will be coached by former fast bowler Eldine Baptiste after Phil Simmons was suspended by the board for venting out his frustrations on the squad selection for the ODI format. The limited-overs series on the Sri Lanka tour starts November 1.

ODI: Jason Holder (captain), Devendra Bishoo, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Jonathan Carter, Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Jason Mohammed, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor

T20I: Darren Sammy (captain), Samuel Badree, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Jonathan Carter, Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor
