Vijay Hazare Trophy: Unmukt Chand skips match to attend Hindi exam

New Delhi: Delhi's young opener Unmukt Chand on Thursday missed his team's opening game of the Vijay Hazare domestic one-day tournament against Baroda to attend an exam.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Chand had cleared all but one paper of his graduation course.

Due to his hectic cricket schedule, the right-hander had missed his Hindi exam during the first semester five years ago and hadn't attempted it ever since.

Finally the 22-year-old made it to the exam hall on Thursday, as it was his last chance to answer the paper, failing which he would not be able to pass his graduation as per Delhi University rules.

“The date-sheet was released a month ago and I knew the exam clashed with the Baroda game. I informed the team, coach and captain well in advance that I will have to take the exam as it was my last attempt. I had missed my Hindi exam due to a packed cricket schedule but this time I had to sacrifice a day of cricket to complete my graduation,” Chand told HT.
