New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has also applied for the head coach job with the Indian cricket team.

Prasad himself confirmed the news by saying, “I have applied this morning.”

However, Prasad, who had severed Team India as the bowling coach in the past, is expected to face stiff competition from heavyweights like Ravi Shastri and chairman of national selection committee Sandeep Patil, who have also applied for the top job.

At the moment, Prasad, 46, is the chairman of the BCCI junior selecting committee.

For the records, Prasad was India's bowling coach when under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Indian won the inaugural ICC World T20 in 2007.

The medium pacer, played 33 Tests and 161 ODIs for India taking 96 and 196 wickets respectively.
