New Delhi: Despite retiring from international cricket earlier in the year, Brendon McCullum showed in the IPL that he can still pack a powerful punch.

The former Kiwi skipper was at the forefront of Gujarat Lions' charge in the recently concluded tournament.

Apart from his heroics with the Black Caps, fans in India remember him for getting the IPL off to a flying start in 2008.

Not many people however know about Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's connection with the explosive right-hander.

Though Baz has represented several teams in the IPL, he made his debut with King Khan's KKR.

The 34-year-old is now set to do an encore, as he makes his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) debut also with SRK's Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), which Shah Rukh co-owns.

“The introduction of some of the biggest stars, like AB de Villiers, is phenomenal and a huge boost to have those guys partaking in the tournament. A pat on the back to CPL that they can attract some of the biggest names in international cricket to their tournament. It’s been running for a couple of years now and it’s a real coup to see these big names are attracted to the tournament because of the appeal that it’s had and the success it has generated already,” he told the official CPL website.

The tournament starts on June 29.
