New Delhi: Indian batsman Rohit Sharma will hope to get some much needed runs under his belt in the upcoming series against South Africa. The Mumbai batsman who had a mixed Test series in the 2-1 victory over Sri Lanka in August this year claims that he isn't a naturally talented batsman like the way people have described him to be.

In an exclusive interview with DNA, Sharma stated that he isn't talented after being questioned over his way of dismissals in the series against the Lankans. Sharma said that the talent word has been tough on him and he criticised the media for creating the hype of him being a natural batsman and a God's gift.

Sharma added that he he was never a batsman. Infact he started his career as a bowler and used to bat at No. 8. The stylish batsman worked hard in batting and has got up through the order because of that.

Rohit who was seen getting out against the incoming deliveries in Lanka, was criticised by pundits and media alike for not not knowing where his off-stump is. He responded by saying that’s how a batsman usually gets out, to an incoming ball, caught in the slip cordon, bowled, etc.

Rohit who is expected to fight for his place in the Indian Test team, has found success in the shorter versions of the game. In the two-month long series against the Proteas, Sharma will want to show that his hard work is paying off especially in Tests.
