Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Chance for Yuvraj Singh to shine in T20 tourney

New Delhi: All eyes will be on Yuvraj Singh when he will take the field in the National Twenty20 championship for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Ahead of the crucial T20 series against Australia later this month, this comes as a crucial platform for some much needed practice.

Alongside Yuvraj, veterans Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra too will be in fray and their performances too will be handy.

This T20 trophy comes in a good time given the tour of Australia in the corner. Yuvraj will hope to get some runs amidst some good form to boost his confidence for the series against Australia.

Earlier on Thursday, Yuvraj was released by Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils, and will be a part of the auctions on February 6, 2016.

As expected his return to the Indian T20 side didn't excite Delhi Daredevils enough who decided to let him go. The Daredevils who disappointed in 2015 in the IPL, saw their star player score only 248 runs from 14 games.

Interestingly Yuvi was bought by DD for a whooping 16 crores, and Delhi didn't want to risk that this time. The experienced left-hander now has a chance to showcase his mettle in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tourney followed by the T20 series against Australia and score some vital runs.

India's middle order has been strengthened after Yuvraj's inclusion and some crucial runs here can help his chances be better in featuring in the side against the Aussies.

A good outing here and against the Aussies will give IPL teams a prospect of bidding for the Punjab player. It will be interesting to see what amount he goes for this time.
