South African pacer Dale Steyn ruled out of ODI series against England

New Delhi: South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against visitors England. The Proteas pacer's injury woes continued as the side won the fourth Test match against England at Centurion on Tuesday.

Steyn recently lost his ICC Test ranking as the world’s best bowler to England’s Stuart Broad, as he continues to battle with a shoulder injury.

Steyn had hurt his shoulder in the first Test against England in Durban just after Christmas in 2015 and has not been able to bowl since then. South Africa officials had stated that a scan had revealed no obvious muscle damage. But despite that the senior international has missed action.

Also in the injury list is Vernon Philander who has also not recovered from an ankle injury suffered on tour to India in November 2015 and is unlikely to feature either.

South Africa's hope will rest on youngster Kagiso Rabada who excelled in the 4th Test victory. Reports also stated that the Proteas will bring in new bowlers for the ODI series.
