SLC to hold further discussion on ICC revamp plan

Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket Board`s Executive Committee today decided to hold further discussions with stakeholders before taking a final decision on the revised proposals of the controversial ICC revamp plan.

The SLC Exco, which met here today in an emergency session, though said that it would safeguard its "current rights and privileges".

"An emergency meeting of the Executive Committee held today at SLC headquarters to discuss the ICC revised proposals, the views of the legal advisory committee, and the financial evaluations were taken into consideration and tabled," a release from the SLC said.

"The Executive committee was firmly of the view that all endeavours should be made to safeguard the current rights and privileges of Sri Lanka Cricket as a full Member of the ICC," the release added.

Sources said during the meeting it was decided that SLC should engage further with the stakeholders and a meeting will be held on February 5 for this purpose.

The official stand of the SLC would be made public on February 5 after consultation with the stakeholder groups.

At today`s meeting, the ExCo members were united on the need to oppose the plan proposed by India, England and Australia, SLC insiders said.
