New Delhi: Kolkata-based industrialist Sanjiv Goenka who bagged the Pune team in next season's Indian Premier League said that his franchise will not make any money in two years.
Pune and Rajkot replaced the two suspended teams, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
According to an exclusive report in Live Mint, Goenka stated that although most of the sides in the IPL are making money now, his side will not make any because Pune has only two-year window available.
He also added that it isn't possible that to make any money from such a property so quickly.
Being one of the leading businessman in the country, Goenka claimed that he is convinced that the return in the form of branding would far exceed the cost of running Pune for the two-year period.
Interestingly, Sanjiv Goenka, is also one of the co-owners of Indian Super League side Atletico de Kolkata. The Eastern giants play their first leg semi-final at home against Chennaiyin FC on Saturday.
They won the tournament in its first edition in 2014.
