New Delhi: Pakistani tainted pacer Mohammad Amir was booed by the fans in Auckland after his return to international cricket in the first T20 match between New Zealand and Pakistan.
Amir, 23, was playing for Pakistan for the first time since his suspension in 2010 for spot-fixing allegations.
According to reports, Amir was booed when he came on to bowl for the visitors from section of fans in the stadium. The Pakistani pacer didn't get a chance to bat as his side came out first.
Pakistan beat their hosts by 16 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, Amir picked up a wicket on his return.
Amir was although well received by fans and cricketers alike in his nation.
Earlier, the left-arm fast bowler was convicted for spot-fixing in a Lord's Test in 2010 and was one of three Pakistan players jailed in November 2011 for his part in a conspiracy to bowl deliberate no-balls against England.
In January last year, Amir was cleared to play domestic cricket in Pakistan.
Earlier this month, he was named in Pakistan's squad to tour New Zealand for three Twenty20 and three one-day internationals.
