Cuttack: Concerned over recent vigilance enquiries into financial investments of some OPL franchisee owners, Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) has decided to debar tainted bidders from next version of the tournament.
The authorities of OCA and office bearers of Orissa Premier League told reporters here that they had decided not to allow any person facing vigilance enquiries to bid for any OPL team from next year.
OCA Secretary Asirbad Behera said there was no vigilance raid in the premises of the OCA as reported in media.
"We received only two letters from the vigilance department and the income tax department about the investments made by certain franchisee owners. And we have submitted the relevant documents to them," Behera said.
"The bidders submitted their bid amount through demand drafts and how can we find out whether the money was black," Behera said when asked that some of the owners had pumped in black money in OPL.
Speaking about the success of the game, he said OPL-I generated a revenue of Rs 4,17,56,435 and there was a profit of Rs 1,19,36,737 after an expenditure of Rs 2,98,19,698. He said 50 per cent of profit would go to a government-controlled orphanage for education and health.
