Karachi: Troubled leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has vowed to continue his fight to get clearance from the Pakistan cricket Board to play for the national team again after the Sindh High Court on Monday dismissed his petition on technical grounds.
The court ruled that Kaneria`s petition challenging the PCB decision to not consider him for national selection should be heard by the Lahore high court as per jurisdiction.
"Since the PCB headquarters is located in Lahore and the petition was filed against the board the court ruled that it was not in the jurisdiction of the Sindh high court to rule on the case," said Faroog Naseem, the lawyer for the leg-spinner.
Kaneria had filed a petition four months ago in the SHC against the PCB refusal to clear him for national selection as he claimed there was no spot fixing investigation or case pending against him in England.
The PCB refused to consider him for national selection as it pointed out that Kaneria`s integrity was in doubt after he was questioned by Essex police in a spot-fixing investigation in England last year.
The investigation centered around a Essex and Durham Pro-40 match played in September, 2009 when Kaneria was on the Essex staff.
The Essex police later said it had found no evidence against Kaneria in the case but months later the county released him claiming it was due to financial constraints. But the PCB insisted Kaneria produce the transcripts of his questioning by the Essex police as it wanted to be clear about his integrity.
