Is Yuvraj Singh the finisher MS Dhoni is looking for?

New Delhi: After a long long time swashbuckling batsman Yuvraj Singh made headlines in sports pages after the Punjab cricketer was included in the Indian squad after a gap of two years.

Impressive performances in the on-going Vijay Hazare Trophy helped Yuvi to get the attention of national selectors as they finally picked him for the three-match T20 series in Australia.

As the ICC flagship event, World Twenty 20, is round the corner, Yuvraj's inclusion is also hinting towards another theory.

In the recent past, India's limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni spoke about promoting himself up the order and looking for someone to contribute lower down the order – as a finisher.

Suresh Raina emerged as the obvious choice after Dhoni's statement. But it seems that as the World Twenty 20 is looming large, Dhoni also wants to give a chance to veteran 34-year-old, who has always been a match-winner for Team India, especially in big events.

Considering Yuvraj's current form in the domestic league (Vijay Hazare), the big-hitter of the cricket ball can easily fit into the slot in the limited-overs cricket.

Not to forget, when Indian won the ICC World Cup 2011, under the captaincy of Dhoni, Yuvraj was the Man of the Tournament award. The dashing cricketer also played a crucial role for Team India in the World T20 in 2007, which India won after beating arch-rivals Pakistan in the final.
