IPL 9: Virat Kohli - With eyes on play-offs, pain will be temporary for RCB skipper during Match 50 vs KXIP

New Delhi: While Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 has seen several cricketers being ruled out of the tournament due to injuries, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli will hit the field today with stitches in his left hand against Kings XI Punjab.

The 27-year-old sustained an injury in previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders, when he went for a difficult low catch.

The way he pummeled the KKR bowlers during his 75-run knock, nobody had a clue about the seriousness of the injury. It was only during the post-match presentation ceremony that Kohli looked in pain and revealed that it might require 7-8 stitches.

When asked about the status of the injury, Kohli said, "It's a big split, my hand is starting to pain now, looks like I've got get seven or eight stitches. I don't mind even 10 stitches if we go on to win the next two matches."

In Match 48, Kohli (75*), along with AB de Villiers (59*), once again stitched a great partnership as the duo added unbeaten 115 runs for the second wicket to win the match for Bangalore.

RCB are currently ranked fifth in the points table and need to win their next two games against Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils to qualify for play-offs.
