IPL 8: Costliest player Yuvraj Singh fails to rescue DD against CSK

New Delhi: Indian national selectors and skipper MS Dhoni were highly criticised for ignoring the swashbuckling batsman Yuvraj Singh from India's World Cup 2015 squad.

But even after getting a cold shoulder, Yuvi emerged as the costliest cricketer in the IPL 8 players’ auction, as he was bought by Delhi Daredevil for a record Rs 16 crore.

However, while representing DD in their opening match, Yuvraj failed to live up to the expectations and couldn't even manage to reach the double figure mark against Chennai Super Kings.

While chasing a challenging total of 150, Yuvraj came to crease at a perfect time, when his side needed mere 64 runs off 41 balls and they had seven wickets in hand.

The southpaw started off well as he scored nine runs off the first four balls he faced, which included a boundary as well.

But in the next over, Dwayne Bravo got the better of the 33-year-old, when he tried to pull the bowler but miss-timed his shot completely and gave a simple catch to midwicket fielder.

Albie Morkel, though, tried his best till the very end to pull the match away from the home side, his efforts went in vain as DD lost a thrilling encounter by one run.

It's just the beginning of the tournament and Yuvraj has the caliber to comeback strongly, but being the costliest player of the cash-rich league his every poor performance would be scrutinised.
