IPL 2016: Unsold at auction, Hashim Amla signed by Kings XI Punjab as replacement for injured Shaun Marsh

New Delhi: South African opener Hashim Amla is all set to replace injured Australian left-hander Shaun Marsh for the Kings XI Punjab in the ninth edition of the tournament.

Amla, who went unsold at the auction earlier this year, will replace Marsh, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury.

Marsh is said to have picked up the injury in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19, and has been carrying a niggle since.

None of the franchise owners were keen in buying the South African earlier this year, where he went unsold with a base price of INR 1 crore.

Marsh had a decent season in IPL 2016, where he scored a half-century and two 40-plus scores in six matches.

On the other hand, despite being one of the best batsmen in world cricket at the moment, Amla hasn't played a single match in the IPL so far.
