Indian Premier League 2016: Pressure on Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers to win maiden title for Royal Challengers Bangalore

New Delhi: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are widely regarded as two of the greatest batsmen in world cricket at the moment. While the Delhi batsman has been in sublime form lately, the South African is someone who has incredible shots in his repertoire.

But despite being the biggest entertainers of modern-day cricket, the duo has failed to win a single trophy for their IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Time and again, these two have played some of the most memorable knocks in the cash-rich tournament, but the trophy still eludes the team.

Not to forget, the team also has Chris Gayle – undoubtedly the most destructive T20 batsman and add Shane Watson's name to that list, and they definitely become title contenders once again.

While Kohli was the captain of the MS Dhoni-led Indian team which won their second ICC World Cup, de Villiers is yet to be part of a squad to have won a major title at any level. The South African has a huge fan base in India and the fans would want him to win at least one title for the franchise.

Given the form Kohli has been in since the beginning of the year, he could easily be one of the highest run-getters in the tournament. With some help from AB, Gayle and Watto, Kohli could easily break the shackles and win his maiden title as an IPL captain.

RCB will kick off their IPL 9 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad today.
