Harsha Bhogle's Indian Premier League ouster: Did senior players force BCCI's hand?

New Delhi: As news of Harsha Bhogle's Indian Premier League 2016 contract termination emerged, fans and experts attributed this decision of the BCCI to several possible reasons.

But according to a report in the Times of India, some senior Indian cricketers expressed their unhappiness over Bhogle's commentary to a board official following a recent World T20 game, triggering this decision.

“The previous generation -when you had the likes of Sourav, VVS, Rahul and Sachin around -was too classy and too big in stature to get involved in such petty instances," Bhogle told the TOI.

Post India's 1-run win against Bangladesh, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was critical of an Indian commentator.

Big B further added that he had neither referred to Sunil Gavaskar nor Sanjay Manjrekar.

This remark was endorses by none other than skipper MS Dhoni.

Of late, Dhoni has not hesitated in taking a dig at journalists for their opinions and questions with regards to Team India's performance and his retirement.

This irritation of the wicketkeeper-batsman was first noticed ahead of the Asia Cup. It was then repeatedly seen in the WT20 as well.

The Sunday Express reported that Bhogle was involved in a heated argument with a VCA official during India's WT20 opener against New Zealand in Nagpur.

Plenty of support poured in for the ace commentator on social media networks on Sunday, however BCCI is yet to issue any statement or state the exact reason behind their decision.
