New Delhi: Ahead of its big auction in February, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is back in the news after franchises opted to release some of their big name players on Thursday.
Players like Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, Dale Steyn and Virender Sehwag were dumped by their respective teams in order to build a new team for the upcoming season.
For instance, by releasing Dinesh Karthik was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping 10.5 crore.
After a string of poor results, the Virat Kohli-led team opted to let the wicketkeeper-batsman go. By doing so, they can now spend some of that money on another impact player in the upcoming auction.
