Inzamam proposes Younis Khan`s name as successor

Lahore, March 31: Outgoing skipper Inzam-ul-Haq today proposed vice-captain Younis Khan for the captaincy of the beleagured Pakistan team.

Addressing a press conference at Gadaffi stadium here, his first after returning home from a disastrous World Cup campaign in the West Indies, Inzamam denied all charges of match fixing against Ireland but accepted the moral responsibility for the team`s poor show in the showpiece tournament.

Terming the match-fixing allegations as baseless and uncalled for, Inzamam came hard on the country`s media for not supporting the team in the hour of crisis.

When asked about his opinion about the replacement for late coach Bob Woolmer, he said it is up to the Board to take a decision in this regard.

``But, irrespective of he is a foreigner or Pakistani, he (the coach) must be capable enough to meet challenges,``he said.
