New Delhi: BCCI on Monday made it aptly clear that it could move the 4th Test from Delhi to Pune if the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) fails to sort things out by November 17.
The major issue for the state association officials is the payment of Rs 24 crore as entertainment tax to the Delhi government.
DDCA is bankrupt and BCCI has cut off their benefits for failing to submit a balance sheet for last year.
According to a report in the Times of India, Chetan Chauhan and treasurer Ravinder Manchanda will meet Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday find a way forward.
"We are going to meet Kejriwal and request him if this amount could be settled after the Test is conducted. The Test is a big event for all Delhiites. Generally, the government helps in such cases. The CM is a gentleman and we hope he will understand our position," Manchanda told TOI.
"DDCA was exempted of entertainment tax till 2009. We will bring up this point as well. We have cleared the issues with Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other formalities. This is the only worry," he added.
"We thought of appealing to the court for a stay but there is very little time for that. These are desperate times with Diwali also coming in the way . We are looking at every possible option. We want the powerful forces in Delhi cricket to pull in their weight as well. But we can't help if the Test is awarded to Pune," said a top DDCA official.
The fourth and final Test is scheduled to be played on December 3 at the Feroz Shah Kotla
