New Delhi: Finally, the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi will get to host the the fourth Test match between India and South Africa next month, according to reports.
After a series of parlays among the stake-holders, Delhi High Court on Thursday ordered AAP government to issue a objection certificate to the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
A report in CNN-IBN said that the court directed MCD (Municipal Corporation Of Delhi) to issue Provisional Occupancy Certificate (POC) to DDCA, which will pave the way for Feroz Shah Kotla ground hosting the December 3-7 Test match.
"We don't want to penalise the people and players by not holding the match," the report quoted Delhi HC's observation.
It's worth taking note that, DDCA had moved Delhi HC on Tuesday with a plea seeking a direction to South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) over issuing a POC to hold the international match at the stadium.
SDMC mayor Subhash Arya then confirmed that, "They (DDCA) had something over Rs 6 crore due to us (SDMC) in property tax, out of which they have paid about Rs 5 crore. The rest they said, they will be able to pay after the match."
The HC also directed DDCA to deposit with the government Rs 1 crore in two installments.
In fact, Acknowledging the rampant corruption in the state cricket association, the High Court asked Justice Mukul Mudgal to ‘oversee’ the arrangements for the match.
In another report in The Indian Express, DDCA treasurer Ravinder Manchanda claimed that “The match is on".
