Complainant claims cricketer Amit Mishra threw kettle at her, broke finger

New Delhi: Indian spinner Amit Mishra may feature in tomorrow's third One-Day International against South Africa in Chennai, but he will be required to appear before the Bengaluru police for an alleged assault on a female friend last month.

The girl who claims to be a film producer, has filed an FIR against Mishra, alleging that the 32-year-old assaulted her. After the FIR, the police booked Mishra under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 328 (causing hurt with intent to commit an offence), he said.

In the FIR, the girl said that Mishra threw a tea kettle in her face and beat her up, breaking her finger. The woman in her complaint claimed that she and Mishra were friends for over four years. The complainant admitted that she entered Mishra's room in his absence, which resulted in an altercation.

The incident happened in a five star hotel in Bengaluru on September 25, while Mishra was in the city to attend a cricket camp.

Yesterday, the police asked Mishra to appear before them in a week’s time.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh said that Mishra is available for selection for the Chennai ODI.
