Is India missing the presence of discarded seniors?

Wellington: Most of the Indian players who were the backbone of the team are no more being part of Team India. Big names like Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh are struggling to make a comeback in the Indian side.

All the aforementioned names are match winners and have proved themselves while playing for India in different parts of the world. In fact, they were the major reason behind India`s success in the 2011 World Cup.

It`s true that they were out of the team due to their poor performance in the past, but it`s another fact that few players who got a chance to replace them didn`t miss the opportunity to cash in. And it made the chances of comeback for these seniors, even more difficult.

The perfect example of it is the discarded Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir, who even after performing decently in the domestic league, is waiting for his comeback.

But after India`s poor run, MS Dhoni must have missed few of these players. As they were the ones who had performed well last time, when India visited these parts of the world. In the last tour to NZ, India won Test and as well as ODI series and the then openers of the team – Gambhir and Sehwag – were among the top scorers.

So the man who must be missing the company of these game changers would be none other than Dhoni.
