Chennai: Indian batsman Lokesh Rahul was left heartbroken after he missed out on a double ton by just one run against England in the fifth Test of the ongoing series at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk.

Rahul shared a 161-run fourth-wicket partnership with Karun Nair, before missing out on what could have been his maiden double century.

Batting on 199 on Day 4 of the match, the right-hander chased a wide delivery from Adil Rashid and gave an easy catch at point.

Virat Kohli, R Ashwin and other players in the dressing room couldn't believe Rahul's dismissal, as the batsman himself was on his haunches at the crease for some time before walking back to the pavilion.

With that dismissal, he became the ninth batsman in the history of Test cricket to get dismissed on 199.

The only other Indian cricketer in that list is former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin.

Others in the list are Mudassar Nazar, Matthew Elliott, Sanath Jayasuriya, Steve Waugh, Younis Khan, Ian Bell and Steven Smith.

Rahul struck 16 fours and three sixes during his marathon knock.
