New Delhi: India opener Murali Vijay was confronted with possibly the worst ever appeal in cricket when England players asked the umpires for 'obstructing the field' on the second day of third Test at Mohali.

It happened off the last ball of the third over when Vijay defended a length ball from James Anderson back to the bowler. Vijay survived the challenge, but the whole event will go down as one of the most funniest moments.

After playing the ball back to the bowler, Vijay was standing outside of his crease. Then, after initial hesitation Anderson attempted a run out, throwing the ball towards Vijay's wicket. But his throw hit Vijay's pads instead.

Well-versed in cricketing laws, Anderson appealed for obstructing the field, but the umpires denied it.
