Tri-series: Shikhar Dhawan's poor form continues

New Delhi: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan's poor form with the bat continued as the southpaw once again failed to make his presence felt in the 3rd ODI of the triangular series between India and England on Tuesday.

After winning the toss, when skipper MS Dhoni decided to bat first, the 29-year-old perished in the third over after scoring mere one run. The out of sorts left-hander was the first wicket to fall for India, as he edged James Anderson's angled delivery straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.

After his poor run Down Under in the recently concluded Test series against the home side, it seemed as if the change of clothing couldn't make much of a difference for the opener.

In their tri-series opener against Australia, the Delhi lad scored just two runs and on Tuesday too, he didn't disturb the scorers much.

The kind of bowling line up India has, it's important for them to score big while batting first. And for that they need to have a good start up the order.

In the on-going series, India have lost their first two matches. In fact, on Tuesday India only managed to put up a total of 153 runs on board, only to be crushed by the hands of England – which has raised serious questions on the Indian batting line up.

With ICC mega event starting next month, in Australia and New Zealand, it's high time Dhawan should regain his lost form, otherwise MS Dhoni will have to take a hard decision of dropping him from the playing XI.
