New Delhi: India opener Rohit Sharma showed once again why he is a sheer classy player in ODI format after his blistering 138-run knock against Australia in the second game of the tri-series in Melbourne on Sunday.
Sharma who struck a world record 264 against England at home before the tour of Australia, was seen in his usual best against heavyweights Australia. Rohit's form against the Aussies in this format was impressive once again to show how much he loves the opposition in the limited overs game.
After an average outing in the Test series, Sharma was in pressure to start the ODI series well ahead of the World Cup, and he presented an assured note of himself. The best part of the innings was he stayed up till the end and showed why he is a big innings player.
Rohit Sharma became the sixth Indian to score an ODI century against Australia at their backyard.
He joined some former India batsmen in the list which includes VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar.
Rohit's 138 ensured he has scored the most ODI runs against Australia in the last two years. He has 629 runs against them. In his last six ODI innings against Australia, Sharma has scored three centuries.
