Classy Ian Bell shows solidity for England up the order

England batsman Ian Bell has been shining like a knight in the armour in the opening role for the team, and this shows a positive sign for England ahead of the ICC 2015 World Cup starting from 14th February. Bell struck a valiant 141 for England against Australia in the fourth match of the ODI tri-series in Hobart. Bell who struck 88 runs in the previous match against India, was at his best helping England getting a total in excess of 300 runs against the Aussies.

New Delhi: England batsman Ian Bell has been shining like a knight in the armour in the opening role for the team, and this shows a positive sign for England ahead of the ICC 2015 World Cup starting from 14th February.

Bell struck a valiant 141 for England against Australia in the fourth match of the ODI tri-series in Hobart. Bell who struck 88 runs in the previous match against India, was at his best helping England getting a total in excess of 300 runs against the Aussies.

Bell's innings of 141 consisted of 15 fours and a six. His strike-rate was also impressive at 112.80. Bell notched his fourth ODI hundred and in this process overtook former England all-rounder Paul Collingwood, to be England's highest ODI run-getter. Collingwood had scored 5092 runs and Bell surpassed him when he was on 98.

This was also Bell's first ton in the last two years, and this will bring a lot of confidence for the star player. The batsman was involved in two century stands with Moeen Ali and then Joe Root to show his importance for the side ahead of the World Cup.

Bell will fancy his chances to get big scores and keep the team with a chance of doing well in the mega event. England Test wicket-keeper Matt Prior applauded Bell for his ton through social micro-blogging site, Twitter.
