ICC World Twenty20: India have good all-round team, says Shane Watson

New Delhi: Indian Premier League's million dollar man Shane Watson stated on Wednesday that India have a good all-round team for the upcoming 2016 ICC World Twenty20.

The veteran all-rounder who is expected to play a vital role for the Australia feels that the Indian side has the firepower in all departments.

"They (India) know their conditions better than anyone and have performed well in big events at home. India have a good all-round team, their batting has firepower all the way through, bowling-wise, their spinners are world-class and they have some good quicks,” said Watson.

Next month's ICC World Twenty20 is to be held in India and due to the familiarity with the conditions, Watson feels that the hosts will be the toughest team to beat.

"I think India will be the toughest team because it's in their home conditions.”

Watson is currently plying his trade in Dubai, in the inaugural Pakistan Super League.

Watson has been in sublime touch with the bat and struck a fluent 124* recently against India in the T20 series. Although Watson is an opening batsman, he will have to make way for David Warner and Aaron Finch in that combination.

Australia have also included Usman Khawaja who too is a top order batsman and has been in great touch with the bat.

The 34-year-old is not sure in which position will he be batting for Australia but is willing to do what the management feels like the best fit.

"I'm not sure where I'm going to bat in the upcoming T20 World Cup. We have a number of world-class opening batsmen with Finch, Khawaja, and Warner. (Whatever) the makeup of the team, we're going to be a very strong batting line-up, there's no doubt about that. We're just going to have to fit in with what works best for the team," he said.

Watson averages 35 with a strike-rate of 154 when opening the batting, compared to his average of 15 and a strike-rate of just 119 when he has batted elsewhere. Despite this, he is still expected to bat lower down the order.
