ICC World T20: New Zealand cricket team preview - Black Caps can spring a surprise

New Delhi: The ICC World T20 will be the first major test for the New Zealand side after retirement of their inspirational skipper Brendon McCullum.

There is no doubt the Kiwis will miss Baz, who led them to a historic final in the 50-over World Cup last year.

Interestingly, the BlackCaps have named three spinners - Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner and Nathan McCullum – in their squad.

Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Adam Milne and Mitch McClenaghan are part of a deadly quartet of pacers in the Kiwi ranks.

Skipper Kane Williamson and veteran star Ross Taylor will have to carry the burden of run-scoring for the New Zealanders at the tournament.

The in-form Martin Guptill and big-hitting Corey Anderson will be tasked with going hammer and tongs at the opposition bowlers at the start and death respectively.

Having failed at the final hurdle in Melbourne last year, Richardson’s side is tagged as a dark horse to go all the way this time around.
