Huge setback to Bangladesh: Arafat Sunny, Taskin Ahmed suspended by ICC for illegal bowling actions

New Delhi: In a massive blow to Bangladesh's hopes of making an impact at the World T20, bowling duo of Arafat Sunny and Taskin Ahmed was on Saturday suspended by the ICC for illegal bowling actions.

Both bowlers were suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect after independent assessments found their actions illegal.

Arafat’s elbow extension for most of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees while not all of Taskin’s deliveries were legal.

Bangladesh management will now have to apply to the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 Event Technical Committee for approval to replace the duo.

The assessments were performed in Chennai, with Arafat’s bowling action analyzed on March 12 and Taskin’s on March 15.

With the absence of these key bowlers, the chances of Bangladesh making it to the semi-final are very thin.

The Tigers lost their first match against Pakistan and will now face Australia, India and New Zealand.
