I have not applied for any role with Australian cricket team, clarifies Jason Gillespie

New Delhi: Quashing rumours of him being appointed as the next bowling coach of Australian cricket team, former speedster Jason Gillespie has said that he hasn't spoken to Cricket Australia officials, nor has he applied for any such job.

“Just to be absolutely clear, I have not spoken to CA about a role with the Australian Cricket Team,” Gillespie told foxsports.com.au.

“Darren (Lehmann) mentioned my name in a radio interview a while back (in April) re: me being involved so it stands to reason that I will be linked to certain positions.

“Bear in mind I have not applied for any role with CA nor do I intend to. I am currently very happy in my roles with Yorkshire CCC and the Adelaide Strikers.”

Australia are yet to name a bowling coach ever since Craig McDermott vacated the post in March.

Speculations were rife that Gillespie, who has been head coach at Yorkshire for four years and was last year touted as a candidate for the England coaching job, was the frontrunner for the role.
